ABOUT CHILDREN’S CENTER FOR HOPE
The Children’s Center for Hope is a U.S. based nonprofit organization designed to educate and end the suffering of the most needy of Africa. In our major intiative, CCFH collects donations in the United States to benefit our sister organization OLPH Education Center in Kenya. OLPHEC is a primary education boarding school founded by a Kenyan Catholic Priest, Father Raphael Kishare. OLPHEC is a home for the neediest and most academically promising children of Kenya. It’s mission is to give these kids a chance to escape the afflictions of poverty and become the next generation of Kenyan leaders.
CHILD SELECTION
The Centre selects bright children from needy families giving priority to: orphaned children, those from single parents, and those who have parents yet live in extreme poverty. With the rise of HIV, famine and poverty all over Africa, too many children are left with no parents to care for them. Many children are sent to live with grandparents or other relatives who often do not have the means to care for their own children and cannot take on the burden of an additional child. The only requirements for admittance are academic ability and proof of need. We do not discriminate against tribe, religion, gender or any other reason. Community leaders throughout Kenya help to identify the children in need. Through the entrance exams and home visits we are able to ensure that those in absolute need become benefactors of the program.
